Commercial Web Development

Diploma I - Diploma in Advanced Commercial Web Development

Upon the successful completion of Term 3, students are awarded the Diploma in Advanced Commercial Web Development. And once again, while the learning components remain the same as those in the previous term (design, coding, programming, animation, project management, and theory), the level of achievement and the sophistication of the work they are expected to accomplish is significantly greater. As in Terms 1 and 2, students are once again introduced to clients, but this time each client is the responsibility of one student within the term. The requirements of the project in Term 3 are significantly higher than in Term 2 regarding the extent to which the students are expected to apply programming to create custom data-driven websites for their clients. In term 3, students are expected to apply their knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Ajax, Javascript, JQuery, Action Script, etcetera into the form and function of their client sites. The other major milestone for Term 3 is for students to develop their portfolios where, by the end of the term, they will be able to display all of the work they have accomplished, together with the 3 client projects they have completed across the first 3 terms. These portfolios play a very important role in Term 4, their final step prior to entering the field.
