Web development is a combination of many skills that are intrinsically linked and entirely dependent on one another. The five general categorizations of these skills sets are:

  • Design and Coding for Modern, Clean Web-based Layout

  • Programming and Database Development for Updateability and Control

  • Project Management for Sequential Development
  • Commercial Principles for Market Relevancy
  • Industry Connectedness and Networking

At the core of IAM’s training philosophy is the notion that a true and successful developer must be capable across all of these emphases, and that the distinction between a Web Designer and Web Programmer is an artificial one--though perhaps specialized in one of these areas, a competent developer will be competent across all five.

Good design is absolutely linked to good programming, and vice versa. The IAM curriculum ensures that students are guided by the tools and the concepts that help them become confident and successful developers.
