Learning Components

1. Methodology Skills: Client-based development skills. Project Management skills are the most important elements of commercial website design and development. During this formal period of internship, students work alongside professional website developers on real life client-based projects. The technologies and approaches to development will vary and depend on the practices of the particular development house into which the student is placed.


2. Development Skills: XHTML, AJAX, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator--professional level skills and aptitudes.


3. Commercial Development Skills: Internet Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Design Concepts, Technology Integration, Client Profiling


*students who wish to pursue a development house internship placement towards an Applied Diploma must have demonstrated competency across all of the technologies required to the Advanced Diploma level. They are also required to pass an interview stage with a series of development houses in the final stages of their 3rd term in order to qualify. Placement depends on students attaining a minimum of 85% across all of their previous coursework.

Important Note: The Internet development industry is fast paced end constantly evolving. Therefore, the IAM program is in a process of constant improvement and modification. Due to this, there may be slight variations in the individual components of study on a term by term basis. However, the total number of curricular hours remains the same at 300 hours per term.
