About IAM

From the Industry...

The Institute of Advanced Media maintains close ties with its web clients and industry partners. In regular interaction with these individuals and organizations, IAM keeps its finger on the pulse of current development trends, new technologies, and approaches to online business.

  • One of the most important aspects of training at IAM is the curricular integration of these industry representatives.
  • During students' first nine months of training, they are required to complete a minimum of two live client sites guided by project management instructors.
  • Planning and development meetings with these clients are held during class times and in conjunction with their coursework.
  • In their final term of training, IAM students are required to work as interns within one or another of these companies.
  • The feedback IAM receives on their success is vital to the process of our program development.

...into the Curriculum

Together with its industry partners and professional developer-instructors, IAM is constantly re-evaluating its curriculum and program goals to ensure that students are trained according to current industry standards, and that upon graduation their skills will guarantee them success.

The IAM curriculum is built with integration as a priority...and in particular the integration of those skills that are relevant to commercial grade web development: design, animation, site architecture, project management, client profiling, and commercial web theory.

From the Training...

Web development training is at every step carried out with an eye to application and integration. Students are required to learn the tools quickly and efficiently to allow the more important training in commercial development principles to take the centre of attention.

The ability to develop websites that guarantee clients' success in their online business is key to the successful training of a student. Web clients and industry representatives are tightly woven into the program. By the end of a student's program, s/he has created at least 3 live client sites and has worked as an intern developer in a commercial web development house.

...back to the Industry

Across the term of their training, IAM students experience increasing interaction with the web development industry. In turn, they challenge themselves by providing their inter-study clients with websites that are well-designed and that meet clearly-defined commercial goals. Ultimately, the experiences, achievements, and feedback from IAM graduates and its industry partners helps to determine the modifications necessary to ensure that our training continues to meet the needs of the industry.
